Taylor Boutique announces the new 'sherieyvonne' range for Summer
The 'sherieyvonne' label was launched after success at the Air NZ Fashion Week in last year's AUT Rookie Show and after Sherie Muys won the Deutz Fashion Design Ambassador awards in 2006. As if that is not enough she was also runner up in the 'Fashion Quarterly' Young Designer awards.
Some may recognize her three masculine inspired white shirts for women that were prominently featured in magazines from Australia's 'Harper's Bazaar' and 'Marie Claire' to our 'Fashion Quarterly' and 'Viva'. You will be intrigued to see the quality and sophisticated individuality that Sherie builds into her garments. Muys admits she is "fascinated by menswear with a feminine allure and womenswear with a masculine touch".
The Summer range for 07/08 consists of beautifully executed shirtdresses and oversized shirts in the softest silks and cottons, while three layered tops and tunics are layered under soft silk satin draped jackets and this softness is contrasting against the harder edge of the man's style vest.
Sherie says, "The inspiration for this season came after receiving a suitcase full of vintage patterns from a 91-year old sewing enthusiast. The shapes have been manipulated from these classic pattern pieces, and silk fabrics have been created by hand to give an aged feeling".
The culmination of buying this collection has been seen by Vicki Taylor as a fabulous way to help continue the journey of 'taylor' and 'sherieyvonne'. Sherie started working for taylor boutique when was only 16-years old as a Saturday job and working for 4 years in retail and workroom positions in the Ponsonby taylor store while continuing her studies. She left to take up a scholarship in an Amsterdam Design School, during which time she joined Vicki in Paris to do fabric buying and since returning to New Zealand to complete her studies has started to forge her own identity in the New Zealand Fashion Industry.
