A classic white shirt with a feminine twist confirmed Sherie Muys' creation as this year's supreme winner at New Zealand’s most prestigious national fashion competition – the Deutz Fashion Design Ambassador Awards 2006, last month.
The twenty-one year old AUT student’s collection, entitled ‘White Wash’, beautifully constructed from crisp white cotton, caught the judges’ collective eye from day one, and immediately placed her in the top four.
A cast of thirty models wore mini-collections from the top ten finalists who were selected from the forty-two entrants this year.
"Every year we try and push the envelope on the standard of the awards show, and this year we have really achieved a world class show in terms of entries and presentation", says Bridget Candy, spokesperson for Deutz, the main sponsor of the competition.
The judges agreed that Sherie Muys was not only a talented Designer, but also fulfilled the criteria of being an excellent ambassador and New Zealand representative overseas.
